It will provide a snapshot of the mosses, liverworts, lichens, macro-fungi and algae, as well as of vascular plants, in the area between the Mersey and the Ribble. In doing so, it will provide naturalists, conservationists and planners with an essential means of assessing environmental impact and consequential change in one of the most ecologically diverse parts of Britain.
